The term “branding” can mean a lot of things: it can refer to your logo, your tagline, your corporate colors and more. Put simply, branding encompasses the entire process of creating an identity for a business, product or service.
Regardless of what industry you’re in, it’s crucial to create branding that’s memorable and boosts recognition of your company and your products and services throughout your community. Signs and graphics that are well-designed and properly installed can go a long way to ensure your branding sticks in the minds of your customers.
Here are just a few pointers on how to best use signage to enhance your branding:
1. Start at the street:
Monument signs, pylon signs and post-and-panel signs are all great at capturing the attention of passers-by and establishing your brand, long before anyone even walks through your doors for the first time.
2. Hit the road:
Car, truck, trailer and other vehicle graphics can do a lot for your brand. Studies show that a single intra-city truck that’s been wrapped in promotional graphics can generate up to 16 million visual impressions in a single year! (1)
3. Take advantage of every space:
Blank walls, windows and hallways make for an ideal blank canvas on which to place vinyl graphics and murals to display your logo, mission statement, core values and other brand essentials.
4. Go the extra mile with wayfinding:
Directories, room name signs, parking signs and other directional signage can all be branded, helping to reinforce your visual identity as you help guide visitors through your space.
5. Update and refresh:
In one survey, more than 50 percent of respondents said that overlooked maintenance (such as worn-down signs and misspelled words) deterred them from even entering a business.(2) Updating and refreshing signage throughout the year should be part of your marketing plan!
6. Maintain consistency:
Your brand should maintain the same fonts, logos and colors throughout every space – and this is especially important if you have multiple locations. Inconsistent branding can lead to confusion among your customers.
