Creative Ways to Prep For Yearly Events

Let's Get Creative

Are you ready for the next 12 months? If not, it’s not too late to start thinking about everything you’ll have going on over the next year, including how you’ll be planning your communications for events and holidays.

Whether it’s welcoming in spring – and getting a jump on your spring sales – or ensuring that you have everything ready for end-of-the-year pushes, you need a planned approach to creating your signage and ensuring that you connect with your customers.

Before getting started:

It’s important to make sure that your plan covers your marketing and sales goals. For example, you need to think about:

  • How the sign will align with your branding: All messaging and visual elements like logos should be consistent across all your different outlets, including your signs. Inconsistency in your branding can confuse your audience.
  • How much will it cost: Your signs should fit neatly within your budget. Try to give yourself some wiggle room, as extra rounds of corrections or a rush fee can add to the initial quote.
  • The season: Timely, relevant signs create more impact than random ones. Ensure that each new sign corresponds to your current promotions. This also helps keep your signs fresh and interesting, helping drive sales and build brand awareness.

What will you need signage for this year?

Though everyone’s individual needs may vary, here are the things to keep in mind throughout the year that you can get a head start on planning for right away:

  • Spring Holidays: These can include Easter, Passover, spring break or even high school and college graduations. Spring colors are often bright or pastel, with pinks and greens in the mix. Showcase your spring sales or new releases while keeping in mind these seasonal celebrations. For example, you may want to add graduation hats and a school mascot to wall or window graphics to show your support for a local high school’s graduating seniors.
  • Summer Holidays: While summer can be a slow time for many businesses, this is a good chance to draw new customers in with eye-catching signs. Bright colors that evoke sunshine and warmth can help drive visual messaging. Major summer holidays include Memorial Day, summer break and the Fourth of July. For both Memorial Day and the Fourth of July, it’s a good idea to add a patriotic flair to your signage to enhance the mood. Many trade shows also happen during this time of year! While event signs should reflect your brand and your products, they should also be exciting and eye-catching enough to catch the attention of attendees.
  • Fall Holidays: Fall brings about back to school season, Labor Day and Halloween. Oranges, reds and browns are the predominant colors of this season, matching the changing of the leaves. Including these colors, as well as leaf motifs or even a friendly skeleton, ghost or jack-o-lantern is an easy way to evoke the holiday spirit. It’s also easy to incorporate your logo right into a pumpkin carving design! Leverage your message to promote your fall specials as well as get a jump on end-of-season sales.
  • Winter Holidays: The end of the year is a busy time for just about everyone. For end-of-the-year sales, leverage catch words like “clearance” or “final sale,” if applicable, to draw people into your store. Incorporate seasonal staples like snowflakes and Christmas or Hannukah decorations to create a cheerful atmosphere. Consider adding non-denominational designs that still evoke the season and enhance your branding, like snowflakes built out of your logo, or a snowman that’s wearing your company uniform.
