Fabric Banners
Ready to discuss your needs?
Enhance your next event or trade show with beautiful fabric banners.
When it comes to indoor advertising, few marketing strategies produce an impression as long-lasting as fabric banners. And that’s because they aren’t made from traditional materials – custom fabric banners are often constructed out of polyester or satin. This material gives them a luxurious sheen and wrinkle-resistant pliability, all while handling full-color graphics.
At Signs Now, we use a dye-sublimation process, which transfers dye onto fabric banners via heat. As a result, our banners produce true, continuous tones, rather than the dithering associated with inkjet printers. For those unfamiliar with the printing process, this means your business or organization’s imagery and messaging will have a smoother transition between colors, as well as less color banding altogether.
This characteristic, coupled with the tightness of the polyester weave, allows for mesmerizing display quality. If you’re looking to make an elegant first impression, look no further.
How does fabric compare to vinyl?
Perhaps you’ve decided on purchasing a banner, but are still torn on the material. After all, vinyl can be used indoors and outdoors, and it’s more economical than fabric.
An obvious part of this dilemma is location, location, location. Plan on setting up a display indoors, or complementing your table throws? Fabric banners are going to look better in almost every situation. They facilitate easy set-up and teardown if you’re at a trade show or major event, since they can be folded and fitted into a smaller space.
But outdoors, vinyl is king. Even in ideal weather conditions, fabric banners tend to become translucent in the sunlight, obscuring the work of your graphic designers and obfuscating your messaging. Excess moisture can cause colors to fade, and under windy weather, polyester can be ripped apart.
Maintaining the appearance of a fabric banner
Avoid hosing down your banner from a distance. Though many have gotten away with this method while cleaning a vinyl banner, fabric banners do not withstand pressure or force as well, especially if they’re suspended by grommets or pole pockets.
We recommend machine or hand-washing your banner in regular intervals. If you plan on using a washing machine, makes sure the water temperature is set to cold, and the cycle is turned to gentle.
Fabric banners should be air-dried. Under no circumstances should they be tumble-dried or ironed. A hand steamer, as a last resort, can be used to remove creases or wrinkles.
How long do fabric banners last?
Obviously, numerous variables contribute to the premature wear of material, the fading of dyes, and the loss of overall vibrancy. Indoors, our custom fabric banners should be able to last for three years or more.
Still, even in an outdoors environment, a fabric banner will last about a year before the ink begins to fade. If this is not an acceptable duration of time for your business, we recommend a vinyl banner instead.
The key benefits of fabric banners:
- Much lighter than banners fabricated with conventional materials.
- Concerned about going green? Fabric has substantially less environmental impact than polyvinyl chloride.
- Fabric displays are easier to install and disassemble in general. They can be manipulated with relative ease, as opposed to vinyl or digital signage.
- Fabric banners can be transported without difficulty. And since they take up less space, more of them can be moved in a single trip.
- Fabric has a sharper and brighter image than all other banner materials.
How large can I go with fabric banner size?
Signs Now doesn’t put limitations on banner size. If you can dream it, we’ll fabricate it.
Just keep in mind: the larger the banner, the longer the production time needed for printing, sewing, or hemming. And, depending on the space you wish to display your banner, you’ll have to consider other factors, such as grommet spacing, additional seams, and thickness.
